The long growing season expresses itself in the complexity and depth of the flavour of the fruit. It's impossible to imagine a more magnificent origin for a dessert wine that holds its own against exquisite wines from Banyuls Rivesaltes and Maury.
SEMAILLES
Semailles is first and foremost a Jardin de Cocagne member of the Cocagne Network which brings together more than 100 gardens in France. Our core business is to promote the social and professional integration of people far from employment by offering them employment contracts of 6 to 12 months in the organic farming sector. Vegetables and fruits are grown in the heart of the Avignon Green Belt. The distribution method is original because it is aimed at a network of consumer members who come to pick up their baskets every week at different drop-off points. Fleurs de Cocagne: As part of the Cocagne Network Semailles was created in 2008 on the same principle as market gardens: Fleurs de Cocagne, a particularly innovative action which consists of producing “local and supportive organic flowers” to make bouquets and distribute to a network of members but also in other circuits. Fleurs de Cocagne thus promotes the socio-professional integration of a particularly female “public” by using a rewarding support that protects the environment. Environmental Education and Sustainable Development: In September 2000 Semailles created an environmental education action aimed at children from schools, colleges, social centers and neighborhood associations. The two facilitators also travel to sites and have recently offered training activities for adults (better management of water, energy, waste sorting, etc.) Semailles with the Cocagne Network has been committed to a Quality Approach since 2008 in Sustainable Development. The winery with its 70-hectare vineyards plays a role of vital importance in the wine region accounting for some 40% of the region’s total wine production. As an integrating force in the region it purchases grapes from more than 1 400 small producers working some 1 150 hectares of cropland. Thanks to developments the winemaker is now able to manufacture products to a higher standard from grapes cultivated both on its own land and procured from outside producers.
