In the Steflor idea there is the enchantment of an engaging objective: to transform everything that is green passion into a dimension that goes beyond the usual meaning of gardening. Here then are large spaces in a very bright iron and glass structure, an authentic greenhouse of wonders where you can search, smell, touch to find and get lost in everything that can be beautiful, green, flowered and fragrant. The idea of the Garden of Wonders began to take shape in 1986 in a space close to the city with the first greenhouses which will anticipate the commercial and exhibition structure definitively ready in 1997. In the greenery, gardening, furnishing and home decor departments, added the sector dedicated to animals and their care, currently the largest in the entire province of Milan. What was missing was an area where friends from home could enjoy their sounds and the closeness of their presence. Now crossing the entire garden is like immersing yourself in a space that relaxes and comforts the mind in search of long, light moments. Biodiversity represents the complex of communities of plants, animals and microorganisms that interact with humans and the environment, promoting the balance of the entire ecosystem. The BiodiverSO Biodiversity of Horticultural Species of Puglia project aims to reduce the extinction and genetic erosion of Apulian horticultural species. Puglia is in first place in Italy for the differentiation of processed horticultural species preserved and matured for a period of no less than twenty-five years. The Leccese sweet potato, the leaf cabbage (called "cole rizze"), the Polignano carrot, the Acquaviva red onion, the Catalogne chicory, the Regina tomato, the broccoli, the turnip greens and other crops make the Apulian biodiversity truly unique. A horticultural heritage that must be preserved for future generations. The genetic erosion of Apulian agricultural crops is underway as is their recovery. Enriching and promoting knowledge of Puglia's horticultural agrobiodiversity heritage means becoming aware of the essentiality of our genetic heritage. With the "BiodiverSO project" it is possible to contribute to the recovery of the endangered Apulian horticultural species through the new BiodiverSO app available for Android and iOS. Just as on the website www.biodiversitapuglia.it, it is also possible to learn about the horticultural species of Puglia and suggest others on the BiodiverSO app. You can also propose recipes from the Apulian territory with different horticultural crops. We help the biodiversity heritage to retain its full strength.
